RBC Heritage (PGA Golf)

The RBC Heritage, known for much of its history as the Heritage Classic, is a PGA Tour FedEx Cup event, first played in 1969. The venue has been the Harbour Town Golf Links at the Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The Harbour Town course, which frequently appears on several "Best Courses" lists, was designed by famed golf course architect Pete Dye, with assistance from Jack Nicklaus. In 1972, the first two rounds were played on both the Harbour Town Golf Links and the Ocean course at Sea Pines, with the final two rounds at Harbour Town.
From 1987 through 2010, it was sponsored either by MCI (under both the "MCI" and "WorldCom" names) or its eventual purchaser, Verizon. In 2011, the tournament operated without a title sponsor.[1] On June 16, 2011, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley announced in a press conference at the Payne Stewart Ballroom at Harbour Town that Royal Bank of Canada will sponsor The Heritage until 2016.
This week on the PGA Tour the RBC Heritage will be held at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The purse is $5.7 million and there are 500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs as well. The grand prize for this event is $1,026,000 and the winner of it last was Brandt Snedeker. The tournament happens April1 2th through the 15th and will be followed by the Valero Texas Open, which is April 19th through the 22nd at the TPC San Antonio in San Antonio, Texas. The purse for that one is $6.2 million and it also offers 500 FedEx Cup points.
Those that will be participating in the tournament this year include Mark Anderson, Stephen Ames and Kevin Na as well as Brian Gay, Jim Furyk, Tim Gillis and Sean O'Hair. Other names that are going to be on the field include Rich Beem, Ricky Barnes, Briny Baird and Joe Ogilvie. Bill Haas, Brian Harmon, Padraig Harrington and Todd Campbell are all scheduled to attend as well. You can watch live golf right on your own computer in high quality streaming video.
